Ever wondered how our skin starts needing more care with age. That supple, soft skin that we had as babies, is like everybody’s dream. So, let us in you a little secret, it’s because of natural exfoliation. Dead skin cells are shed off after few days, keeping the skin soft and fresh. But with aging, pollutants, chemicals and residue, the exfoliation begins to slow down and ultimately stops. However, in order to keep our skin healthy, we must exfoliate regularly. In fact, exfoliation has many substantial benefits.
Exfoliation can aid in:
- Fading dark spots by removing dead cells that cause pigmentation.
- Unclogging pores and restoring skin’s natural balance.
- Minimizing pores and eliminating scars.
- Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Removing the top dead layer of the skin, thereby allowing the skin products to absorb better and provide deep nourishment to the skin from within.
What Type Of Exfoliants Are There?
There are generally two types of exfoliants, chemical exfoliants and physical exfoliants. Chemical exfoliants are mostly peels, acids and enzymes that help in shedding off the dead cells. On the other hand, physical exfoliants contain granules of salts, sugars or minerals. Both of these exfoliants have their own benefits but most experts suggest using them both. However, just be careful that you don’t use them on the same day.
At Nita Med Spa, our chemical peel is known for its exfoliating power. It not only gives you a fresh and rejuvenated skin but also removes acne and scars. With our summer special offer, you can get a package of 2 chemical peels with booster at an unbelievable price of $750. How do Chemical Exfoliants work?
Chemical exfoliants contain AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids). The main difference between AHA and BHA is that the former is derived from natural sources whereas the later is considered more potent against acne and is a synthetic derivative.
AHAs are used in light chemical peels, the most common AHAs are glycolic and lactic acids. These are used in many chemical peels. The most common BHA used in peels and toners is Salicylic Acid.
Both AHA and BHA are effective for different treatments depending on the skin concerns. The real purpose of these acids is to combine the structural lipids present in your skin’s outermost layer, also known as the stratum corneum, and help the dead skin break away.
How Physical Exfoliants Work?
Physical exfoliants are mostly made from large granules, small granules, seeds and nutshells. Some even have fruit peels. Massaging them on your skin in a regular motion helps you scrub away the dead cells from the outermost layer of your skin.
