Acne Symptoms and Treatments
Acne is a common problem. But there is no one solution to all acne problems. It is because acne has many forms and types. While some acne issues occur during the teenage years, others are the byproducts of hormonal imbalances and environmental factors affecting the skin. At Nita Med Spa, we have various treatments available for acne. However, our aestheticians carefully select a suitable treatment for you after carefully reviewing your type of acne.
In today’s article, we’re sharing some of the most common types of acne and appropriate treatments. The most common acne problems are:
- Pimples, whiteheads, & blackheads
- Cysts (pus-filled nodules)
- Pustules (raised lesions filled with pus)
- Papules (raised lesions)
How Do We Find A Personalized Treatment For You?
Our aestheticians formulate a personalized treatment after evaluating the type of your acne. Once they have determined the type, the next step is to inquire about your previous treatment, your lifestyle, and any medications that you might have taken in the past. Whether you have occasional breakouts or severe acne, if you want us to create the most effective treatment plan for your acne problem, always book an appointment with us for a one-on-one consultation. This is the only way to help you get clear and acne-free skin.
Mild Acne
If your acne is mild, following a good skincare routine and applying moisturizers and serums that contain Azelaic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or salicylic acid will be enough. How do these active ingredients help in keeping your acne at bay?
Well, they remove excess oil, exfoliate away dead skin cells and unclog blocked pores. They also help in killing acne-forming bacteria in the pores. Moreover, they help with reducing redness, irritation, and inflammation.
Mild Acne Scars
Patients with mild acne scars are often suggested to deep cleanse their skin. This allows the pores to breathe better, improves blood circulation, and stimulates cell regeneration. However, deep cleansing alone is not enough to remove or fade acne scars.
At Nita Med Spa, we recommend chemical peels and Hydrafacial for treating mild acne scars. A chemical peel not only fades away scars by removing the top layer but will also stimulate collagen production in the skin which will eventually restore the skin’s natural shine and balance.
Hydrafacial uses the power of water to awaken the skin from within enhancing blood circulation to fade the scars. Deep exfoliation encourages cell regeneration and gives a hydrating glow to the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.
Moderate/Severe Acne
Having moderate to severe acne means the problem lies deeper. While a skin expert might suggest using the same ingredients listed above, topical application alone, won’t be enough to eliminate the problem completely. The patient will be asked to undergo a series of treatments or use medications including:
- IPL Photofacial/Blue Laser Facial
- Antibiotics
- Chemical Peels
- Oral Contraceptives
- Hydrafacials
- Oral Isotretinoin
Severe Acne Scars
Moderate or severe acne scars are deep. These are also known as tissue scars. They take longer to heal and fade. The recommended treatment for deep acne scars is microneedling. Microneedling stimulates collagen which tightens the skin and gives it a firmer and smoother appearance. This is how microneedling helps with reducing the appearance of acne scars. However, it is always best to consult an aesthetician before choosing a treatment for your acne scars.
